Seeking patient care?
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Welcome to the Department of Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. As a world class academic medical center we are distinctly the University of Miami, with the goal of our discoveries impacting the greater body of scientific knowledge and improving society. We see the effects of our teaching, research and service in global crises, our local South Florida community, or the patient in our exam room and the family that worries for her. Oftentimes we find ourselves just as changed as those we serve.
The world looks very different now than it did just a few months ago. COVID-19 has upended life as we know it. As we work together to respond to this pandemic, one word comes to mind; UNITY. It is the intangible effect that the pandemic has had on our Department of Medicine. It’s not just our faculty or residents or learners but staff as well. Our resiliency framework is based on our department’s ability to Respond, Stabilize, Recover and Thrive. There isn’t anybody who hasn’t pitched in, in some way, some form in terms of what they have done for each other and for our patients during this time. I am constantly inspired by how we have responded, under adversity and under a pandemic. Our pursuit of racial justice is evidenced in our care, inclusive groundbreaking research and discoveries for all, as well as the development of the next generation of leaders.
I invite you to learn more about who we are, what makes us special and diverse, and how we produce truly impactful and distinctive medicine.
