During the pre-clinical phases, students often rely on public transportation options to get around town for both personal and school-related activities. However, many students may consider having their own mode of transportation by the time they begin clinical rotations, which at times may not be as easily accessible through public transport.
MetroBus
The MetroBus offers of 95 routes across the Miami-Dade area. These routes connect to every part of the MetroRail and beaches. Several bus routes operate 24 hours a day; three routes provide overnight service between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. See individual route schedules for hours of operations. EASY Card, EASY Ticket, and cash (no pennies) are accepted forms of payment.
All Metro buses are equipped with bike racks on the front and do not require a permit. If you take a CitiBike on a bus, please plan your route and monitor the clock.
Metromover
The free MetroMover service operates from 5 a.m. to midnight seven days a week. Several different loops (Omni Loop, Brickell Loop, and Inner Loop) cover most of downtown Miami. Metromover cars arrive every 90 seconds during rush hours and every three minutes during off-peak hours.
Metrorail
The Metrorail system follows a 25-mile route that provides service to Miami International Airport (MIA), and runs from Kendall through South Miami, Coral Gables, and downtown Miami; to the UHealth-Jackson Station area; and to Brownsville, Liberty City, Hialeah, and Medley in northwest Miami-Dade. Metrorail also connects to Broward and Palm Beach counties at three locations: Historic Overtown Lyric Theatre station – transfer to Brightline, MIA (Orange Line), and the Tri-Rail (Green Line) stations – transfer to Tri-Rail.
Bicycle racks are inside each Metrorail car and all Metrorail stations. Free BikeLids, which allow you to secure and cover your bike using your own lock, are available at these stations and other locations.
Metrorail accepts contactless payment, EASY Card, EASY Ticket, and the GO Miami-Dade Transit app. Cash is accepted for the purchase of an EASY Card or Ticket at all ticket vending machines at Metrorail stations and other locations. Visit Transit Pass to learn more about fares and payment options.
Full-time students can ride Metrorail and Metrobus for half price through the college discount program, available by downloading the EASY Pay Miami app for iOS or Android. Use your University of Miami email address to create a new account. Then call Miami-Dade Transit at 786-469-5151 to complete your registration. Once you register and pay, you can board Metrorail by scanning your phone at the Metrorail fare gate. To ride a Metrobus, show your active ticket to the driver.

Tri-Rail
The TriRail service runs between Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach.
Free Trolley Services
The Trolley is a free bus service that runs between Miami, Miami Beach, Coconut Grove, Little Havana, Coral Gables, and other destinations. For more information, visit the websites listed here:
There are CitiBike stations throughout Miami and Miami Beach. Once you get a membership card, you can bike all over the city.
Parking
The Department of Public Safety assists individuals who need to park at the medical campus. Information is available at the link above. Parking spaces are also available in nearby privately owned parking decks, such as Dominion Towers Parking Garage.

Miami International Airport
Miami International Airport (MIA) is served by shuttle, bus, taxi, and ride share services such as Lyft and Uber. Several bus lines and the Metrorail Orange Line also provide transportation to and from the airport.
Miami Beach Airport Flyer the MetroBus Route #150 runs every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 11:40 p.m., daily. Busses are equipped with luggage racks and free Wi-Fi.
Super Shuttle Shared-ride shuttle service offers door-to-door service to Miami International and Fort Lauderdale airports.
