Seeking patient care?
The University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital Cardiovascular
Fellowship training program offers a world-class three year training
program in cardiology and additional advanced training
fellowships.
Our program includes rotations at three distinctive
institutions, UHealth Tower (a private, university-based facility), Jackson Memorial Hospital (a public hospital for
the residents of Miami Dade County), the Miami Veterans Affairs Medical
Center.
Each institution offers a complementary experience. All trainees will be exposed to a wide array of cardiovascular pathology and treatment modalities and develop a well-rounded, complete clinical training.
During the cardiology core training program, the fellows participate in both inpatient and outpatient cardiovascular consultation, management of critically ill cardiovascular patients in the ICU setting, and outpatient cardiology continuity clinics.
Trainees will have ample exposure to the cardiovascular subspecialties including interventional cardiology, clinical electrophysiology, heart failure/cardiac transplantation, and cardiovascular imaging including echocardiography, myocardial perfusion imaging, and CT angiography. Fellows receive proficient training in electrocardiography (including ambulatory monitoring), stress testing, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, advanced cardiovascular imaging, and diagnostic cardiac catheterization. There is some allotted elective time for further experience in areas of special interest, or participation in cardiovascular research. Fellows are strongly encouraged to participate in scholarly activities and research.
For fellows interested in more advanced and specialized training, we have opportunities for additional training in ACGME accredited training programs in interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, and congestive heart failure and heart transplantation. For fellows targeting an academic or research career, an additional year of research experience can be arranged in conjunction with any of the numerous scientific mentors in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.
