The Division of Rheumatology has active funded research projects that range from clinical new drug trials to basic science immunology research. Interests are briefly listed by faculty member:
- Maria Carpintero: clinical drug trials in lupus; quality improvement in the rheumatic diseases
- Cecilia Chung: Dr. Cecilia Chung studies the safety of drugs used to treat rheumatological conditions. She analyzes the benefits and risks of these medications, and investigates how they affect different populations and outcomes. Her goal is to improve the quality of life and health of patients with rheumatological diseases.
- Schartess Culpepper-Pace: Dr. Schartess Culpepper focuses on feto-maternal medicine and Sjogren's syndrome along various pathological and clinical manifestations in various subgroups of patients with Sjogren's syndrome.
- Eric Greidinger: pathophysiology and novel treatments in MCTD; determinants of tissue targeting in the rheumatic diseases; Raynaud’s Phenomenon
- Carlos Lozada: drug trials in osteoarthritis and seronegative spondyloarthropathies; clinical education in the rheumatic diseases
- Ozlem Pala: rheumatoid arthritis clinical research, rheumatoid arthritis drug studies
- Elaine Tozman: autoimmune diseases of the eye and ear
