Infectious Diseases Division

The mission of the R.A.P.I.D. Program is to provide innovative and accessible approaches to infectious disease prevention. We are passionate about lowering barriers to pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP), and HIV care entry for people living in South Florida. We work with many academic and community partners to provide services and advance research on infectious diseases prevention.

To achieve this, the R.A.P.I.D. Program provides clinical care services through the Mobile PrEP Program mobile units, the Rapid Access Wellness clinics, and the GenWell Program, as well as conducts cutting-edge clinical trials testing new and innovative prevention strategies.

Mobile PrEP Program

The Mobile PrEP Program provides the necessary medical and laboratory testing for pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP), post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP), and rapid entry in HIV care. As a highly effective strategy for HIV prevention, patients can receive same-day PrEP prescriptions at one of our multiple mobile unit locations within the Miami Dade county at no cost. We also provide HIV and STI testing, treatment for gonorrhea, chlamydia, and syphilis.

Our community sites include South Beach (outside the Hotel Gaythering), Hialeah, and Liberty City. All are welcome regardless of insurance or immigration/residency status.

Rapid Access Wellness Clinic

The Rapid Access Wellness Clinics are located in the Converge Building in the Allapattah neighborhood of Miami, near the UM Medical Campus, and in Miami Beach. The clinics provide the same services as the Mobile PrEP Program with the same barrier-lowering approach.

GenWell Clinic
The Gen-Well Program led by Dr. Laura Beauchamps, MD provides various gender-affirming services including:
- Consultation with knowledgeable medical providers
- Prescription of feminizing and masculinizing hormones and level monitoring
- Gender wellness counseling
- Patient navigation in coordination with HIV PrEP and sexually transmitted infection prevention services
This program is located at the Converge building in partnership with the Rapid Access Wellness Clinic.
