Rheumatology and Immunology

Department of Medicine

A Message from The Chief

Welcome to the University of Miami’s Division of Rheumatology and Immunology.

The Division of Rheumatology and Immunology employs and develops experts in providing compassionate, high quality care for patients with rheumatic diseases and in developing scientific breakthroughs that advance the state of the art in rheumatic disease care.

Our faculty focuses, in depth, on the specific diseases/areas of interest in which they are experts, increasing the opportunities for teaching, research, and clinical care to intersect and synergize.

We attract talented and caring trainees to our rheumatology fellowship program. They share our passions for teaching (and learning), research (and its clinical applications), and quality care.

The diversity of our division reflects that of our community, South Florida. We strive to be a friendly, accessible resource to patients and their families as well as to healthcare providers, including community practice rheumatologists, seeking consultation services.

The division is based at the University of Miami Medical Center campus in downtown Miami (Rheumatology services provided at University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, Jackson Memorial Hospital and the Miami VA Hospital) but provides services in clinics throughout the metropolitan area including in Plantation, Kendall, Deerfield Beach and at the Lennar Center in Coral Gables.

Today, the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology continues to actively build on its decade’s old tradition as South Florida’s premier site and resource for training, research and clinical care in the rheumatic diseases. We are strengthened by and thankful to our supporters including the patients who choose to see us, the health care professionals who refer cases to us, the students who seek training with us, the research participants who help us develop new knowledge and insights, and all those who have donated money to help grow our success. We actively encourage additional support to help further extend our successes.

Sincerely,

Cecilia P. Chung, M.D., M.P.H.
University of Miami Miller School of Medicine Chief of the Division of Rheumatology and Immunology
