Purpose
To define the standardized process by which the Office of the Executive Dean for Research (EDR) administers Internal Award Programs at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
Program Objectives
EDR Internal Award Programs are designed to:
- Provide internal financial support for new research initiatives
- Sustain and advance existing research activities
- Facilitate review and funding decisions through the Scientific Awards Committee (SAC)
- Offer bridge funding and operational support through Internal Administrative Committee (IAC) programs in cases such as:
- Temporary lapses in external funding for Principal Investigators (PIs)
- Strengthen faculty competitiveness for extramural funding opportunities
