Cardiovascular Research Empowerment Workforce (CREW)

The Cardiovascular Research Empowerment Workforce (CREW) is an 8-week summer program designed to inspire interest in cardiovascular science and promote research as a career path among USVI undergraduate students.

Accepted students will learn research skills addressing cardiovascular health under the mentorship of faculty from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, the US Virgin Islands Department of Health, and the University of the Virgin Islands.  The experience culminates with an academic symposium where participants present research findings to participating faculty and the larger USVI public health community. This includes a 2-week didactic bootcamp at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, followed up by a 6-week experiential project in the United States Virgin Islands which includes paid meals, housing, and round-trip flight to Miami. The experience culminates with an academic symposium where participants present their research findings to participating faculty and the larger USVI public health community.
