Nearly every medical decision begins with a diagnosis. Through millions of laboratory tests and thousands of surgical and biopsy evaluations performed each year, our faculty and staff provide the critical information physicians rely on to diagnose disease, guide treatment, and improve patient outcomes.
Our department is also a hub for innovation. From developing new diagnostic technologies to advancing research on complex diseases—including liver disease, HIV, and pancreatic cancer—our investigators are helping shape the future of medicine. At the same time, we are committed to training the next generation of pathologists and laboratory medicine specialists who will carry this work forward.

- Graduate Medical Education in Pathology Fund: Gifts to this fund support the education and training of pathology residents and fellows. Donations made in honor of Dr. Parvin Ganjei help advance initiatives in Graduate Medical Education, with a particular focus on expanding advanced training opportunities for International Medical Graduates, strengthening the global pipeline of highly trained pathologists.
- Clinical Pathology Fund: Support for the Clinical Pathology Fund helps sustain the department’s Pathology International Aid Program, which provides expert pathology consultation services for international patients in need. These efforts expand access to specialized diagnostic expertise and help physicians around the world make more informed treatment decisions.
- Pathology Research Fund: This fund supports innovative research across the department, enabling scientists and physician-investigators to pursue new discoveries in disease mechanisms, diagnostics, and translational medicine. Contributions help accelerate breakthroughs that improve how diseases are detected, understood, and treated.
