The Genitourinary (GU) Pathology Service provides subspecialty-based comprehensive services for disorders of the urinary tract and male reproductive organs.
In addition to providing service to the University of Miami Hospital and Clinics, Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital, national and international consult cases are also reviewed. Over 2500 cases are reviewed annually. When necessary, additional ancillary studies are performed in-house including a variety of cutting edge immunohistochemical and molecular tests. Our highly active clinical counterparts within the UHealth and Jackson Memorial System provide a diverse and engaging volume of cases. This in turn facilitates our academic missions:
- Research
- Daily teaching activities including didactic and at-the-microscope instruction for medical students, pathology and urology residents and fellows, and visiting physicians
- Continuing Medical Education (i.e. hosting and participating in regional national/international pathology and multidisciplinary conferences)
The Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine offers a Fellowship in Genitourinary Pathology.
