The GI Pathology Fellowship program is a one-year, ACGME-accredited program geared towards advance study in diagnostic surgical pathology with emphasis Gastrointestinal, Liver and Pancreas Pathology, including neoplastic and non-neoplastic diseases.

Our laboratories are located at the Jackson Memorial Center and the University of Miami Health which provides service to over 65,000 in-patients and more than 300,000 out-patients, annually. The GI/Liver/Pancreas service evaluates approximately 20,000 surgical cases per year. The location of our laboratory within the Department of Pathology & Laboratory Medicine provides ready access to a wealth of teaching material and a large library which offers unique patient care perspectives and research-related services.

History

Our ACGME-approved fellowship program has been active since 2012. Our program provides a robust education with a friendly environment. The multidisciplinary team includes very experienced surgeons, radiologists, medical oncologists, and radiation oncologists.

Curriculum

The fellows will supervise resident grossing and previewing before signing out the cases with the attending pathologist, taking an active role in intraoperative consultations, and be primarily responsible for clinical-pathological conferences and tumor boards. In addition to surgical pathology rotations in these areas, the fellows will have clinical rotations in Gastrointestinal, Liver and Pancreas clinics and in Cytogenetics/Molecular Biology.

Application

Applications should be submitted by October 31 (20 months before the start date). Candidates should submit the CAP standardized application, curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation to the Fellowship Program Director and copy the Fellowship Program Coordinator.

Salary is commensurate with the level of training and experience.
