Division of Anatomic Pathology

Our team in Renal Pathology works closely with clinicians to assist in the diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of individual patients with the aim to make life better for patients suffering from kidney disease. Dr. Yiqin Zuo serves as the director.

Her clinical focus on medical renal diseases; she is also actively involved in the ongoing clinical trials in the Katz Family Division of Nephrology and Hypertension. Dr. Zuo has a strong academic background with over 25 publications in peer reviewed journals and more than 30 presentations at national and international conferences. Her long-term research interests include glomerular diseases and tubulointerstitial fibrosis. The subspecialty group also provides consultative service for patients with medical kidney disease.

The Renal Pathology Service offers a variety of specialized procedures including renal biopsy pathology, direct immunofluorescence, specialized immunofluorescence such as phospholipase A2 receptor and IgG subclasses, and diagnostic electron microscopy. In addition, electron microscopy services for muscle and nerve specimens are also available.
