No, we do not have a minimum requirement above the passing level.

Three letters of recommendation dated for the current year are necessary. These should be from individuals who have observed your work skills recently and who can speak to your ability to communicate in English and to write independently.

All our faculty work very closely with the residents. Although we encourage the residents to acquired skills on managing the cases that allow them to be confident and independent, all our trainees are highly supervised and taught by faculty during the daily sign out, also all our trainees have the opportunity to attend teaching conferences in all branches of diagnostic pathology and being mentored by staff in research projects and presentations.

The workday generally starts at 7:30 am. Pathology residents take an at-home call (pager call) from 5:00 pm until 8:00 am the following morning. In general, on-call occurs no more than every 6 days and every 10 weekends. Resident duty hours are monitored weekly to ensure compliance with ACGME regulations.

The J1-Visa: Alien Physician Program, sponsored by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, is the standard visa for residents/fellows who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.  You may obtain information concerning US visas by contacting Jackson Memorial Hospital’s House Staff Office.

Interviews are held virtually via zoom (mid-October through mid-December) in the afternoons.  We begin with a presentation followed by interviews with the program director, three individual faculty members, and one of our Chief Residents.
