Physical therapy students or residents who spend observation or clinical time at the Mailman Center have the opportunity to gain knowledge working with children with neurodevelopmental disabilities. They will be able to compare and contrast the roles of various interdisciplinary disciplines working with families and children, identify appropriateness of referral to other disciplines, and participate in discussions in a variety of didactic and interactive large-group sessions as part of the educational opportunities.

Like all trainees at the Mailman Center, physical therapy students and residents will also participate in the LEND (Leadership Development in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities) curriculum, a federally funded interprofessional training program based on family professional partnerships.

For more information regarding physical therapy related training in the LEND program at the Mailman Center, you can contact Martha Bloyer at mhb79@miami.edu
