Promoting Early Childhood Mental Wellness
Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 | 9:15am – 3:45pm
Description
This conference takes a collaborative approach to early childhood mental wellness, highlighting the shared responsibility in fostering a supportive environment for children. Our speakers will discuss the importance of inclusion, which underscores the belief that all children, regardless of differences, can benefit from responsive communication and relationships among peers and adults. Speakers will provide guidance on how maternal health impacts infant mental health and development and how nurturing relationships can support young children’s wellbeing. Speakers will also examine how providers and caregivers can use early literacy interventions and encourage safe screen time to support young children’s connections with others. Through the promotion of mental wellness using an equity lens, we can work towards ensuring that every child has equal access to resources and opportunities, thereby fostering an environment where all children can thrive.
Audience
Mental health clinicians, childcare teachers, early childhood developmental specialists, pediatric primary care staff, therapists (SLP, OT, PT), trainees.
