Applicant Requirements

A candidate must have completed or be enrolled in a predoctoral psychology internship program approved (or provisionally approved) by the American Psychological Association. All candidates should have a substantial amount of prior clinical experience. Applicants with strong clinical child, pediatric, or intervention backgrounds are preferred. Applicants must pass all legal background checks and  a 10 panel drug screening (that includes marijuana) to be employed by the University of Miami. 

Prior to beginning postdoctoral training, applicants must have completed all requirements for their doctoral degree and received a doctoral degree from an APA/CPA-accredited program. Applicants must have successfully completed an APA/CPA-accredited internship or internship that meets APPIC standards prior to the start of their postdoctoral training. 

All application materials should be submitted via APPA CAS by the end of December 18th, 2023.

  • Cover Letter (if applying to more than one position, this should be specified in the cover letter)
  • CV
  • 3 Letters of Recommendation. 

Please note that no additional supplemental application materials (e.g., report examples) are required for the Mailman Center for Child Development.

Application, Review, and Interview Process

  • Applicants interested in applying to one or more of the available specialty training tracks are encouraged to reach out directly to rotation supervisors regarding questions about the training tracks. 
  • Applicants should submit all of the required application materials (i.e., cover letter, CV, 3 letters of recommendation) together within APPA CAS.
  • A postdoctoral selection committee will complete reviews of all applications by early to Mid-January. Those applicants who are selected to move forward in the process will be invited to attend a virtual open house and then virtual interviews with rotation supervisors. 
  • Interviews are typically conducted in mid-January. Candidates will meet with 1-2 rotation supervisors per position they are being considered for. Candidates will also be provided with an opportunity to meet with current postdoctoral fellows without faculty present as a part of the interview process. 
  • Our postdoctoral fellowship program site agrees to abide by the APPIC postdoctoral fellowship selection guidelines.
