A School Based Integrated Primary Care Postdoctoral Fellowship is available at the Mailman Center for Child Development at the University of Miami School of Medicine. This position will be part of our School Health Initiative (SHI), a project designed to provide comprehensive healthcare services to children in some of Miami’s severely under-resourced communities. SHI now operates in nine schools, providing care to over 12,000 children per year, regardless of their ability to pay. At our clinics, housed inside schools in at-risk Miami communities, we offer free primary health care to students on site and facilitate access to specialists at the University of Miami, including for psychological interventions.

The fellow’s time will be split between research and clinical activities. Clinically, the fellow will engage in outpatient therapy, consultation-liaison, and group therapy. This is not an assessment position. This person will also supervise trainees. The fellow will work closely with our interdisciplinary team which includes pediatric health psychologists, pediatricians, nurses, social workers, and patient navigators. Common presenting problems include anxiety, ADHD, depression, trauma, and lack of adherence to medical regimen. There will be opportunities for telehealth experience. Research opportunities will consist of grant writing, data management, statistical analyses, and manuscript writing.
