Seeking Patient Care?
The Mailman Center for Child Development (MCCD), Department of Pediatrics at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine offers a postdoctoral clinical psychology fellowship program with a focus in the areas of pediatric psychology and clinical child psychology. The postdoctoral program is a member of the Association of Psychology Postdoctoral and Internship Centers (APPIC), but is not accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The postdoctoral training program offers advanced training in specific clinical child and pediatric psychology practice areas of focus. The program abides by the APPIC Uniform Postdoctoral Selection Guidelines.
The areas of training focus vary from year to year based on available positions and funding. Generally, positions are designed for fellows to accrue enough clinical hours required for licensure within one year. All specialty tracks average approximately 50% direct service efforts and are sufficient to meet service requirements for licensure in Florida after one full year of postdoctoral training. Beyond delivery of clinical services, it is expected that fellows will participate in the training program through peer supervision and didactic activities. Research activities will vary from position to position but manuscript and grant opportunities are likely to be present within each postdoctoral position.
