The UMMSM Regional Campus participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) and all programs are required to abide by NRMP policies. The graduate medical education office of the UMMSM Regional Campus serves as the liaison between all residency programs and NRMP.

Employment Eligibility Verification:

Under federal law, all prospective employees must complete form I-9, in order to verify your identity and employment authorization. The University of Miami participates in the use of E-Verify to enhance enforcement of federal immigration law. E-Verify is a website sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security that allows businesses to determine the eligibility of their employees, both U.S. and foreign citizens, to work in the United States.

Background Check:

The University requires a background check for all prospective employees. This background check, which is conducted using the matched resident’s date of birth and social security number, includes a statewide and national criminal history background check and a check of the National Sex Offenders Public Website. It may also include a local criminal record check through local law enforcement agencies.

Health Assessment:

The University of Miami requires completion of a mandatory pre-employment health assessment. The University of Miami may rescind the offer of employment if a matched resident does not pass the health assessment.

Ten Panel Drug Screening:

The University of Miami is a Drug-Free Campus and Workplace. This initiative is intended to promote a safe, productive, and drug-free work and learning environment for our faculty, staff, and students. As such, the University requires the pre-employment testing of candidates and the testing of University employees where there is reasonable suspicion of drug or alcohol use in violation of this policy, including the occurrence of an accident or injury at the workplace. The University of Miami may rescind the offer of employment if a matched resident does not pass the pre-employment drug screening.

Florida Licensure:

Matched residents are prohibited from beginning employment as a resident until a Florida registration number has been issued.

Vaccination Requirements:

The University requires frontline healthcare providers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before their start date and receive an annual influenza vaccination or request an applicable medical or religious exemption.
