Transitional Year

Graduate Medical Education

Welcome to the Transitional Year Program at the University of Miami-Holy Cross Health (UM-HCH)! Sponsored by the Department of Internal Medicine, our goal is to provide well-balanced, multidisciplinary clinical training designed to prepare the learner for his/her specific career track.

The UM-HCH programs in Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Emergency Medicine provide Transitional Year residents with the fundamental clinical education necessary to continue advancing in medical training, all while learning in HCH’s state-of-the-art facility in sunny Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Whether your plan is to move on to specialty training, service in the military or a public health organization, or you’d like to pursue a career in administrative medicine, the program offers substantial flexibility to meet your educational needs with up to 14 weeks of elective time. Our first class graduated in 2019 and we continue to build on their strong foundation. We are proud to offer the University of Miami’s premier Transitional Year Residency Program and hope you’ll consider joining us to leave your legacy!
