Internal Medicine is a specialty of managing the wellness of adults. We do this through preventive care as well as the treatment of acute and chronic medical illness. Our program is designed to train each of our residents in a holistic approach to the treatment of patients in both the inpatient and ambulatory settings. Holy Cross Hospital provides the ideal clinical environment for managing a diverse group of patients and diseases in a highly efficient community hospital setting.
We recognize that an Internal Medicine Residency is also the launching point for more than primary care and hospital medicine. Our focus is to prepare our residents for their future careers including subspecialty training, and careers in academics and public/global health. We do this by allowing flexibility in the resident curriculum through specialty elective rotations, training in research skills, and a focus on ambulatory medicine skills. Our residents develop leadership and teaching skills through our leadership seminars and team management with our interns and University of Miami medical students at Holy Cross Health. Through the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine we are able to offer two second-year residents the opportunity to participate in our Global Health Track with international electives. We are the best of both worlds, offering the ideal clinical training environment with all the resources of a major academic medical school. We hope you will consider joining us for your Internal Medicine Residency training.
