UM Palm Beach

Graduate Medical Education

The Graduate Medical Education [residency and fellowship] programs at HCA Florida JFK Hospital are undergoing a staged transition from joint program sponsorship between the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine [UM] and HCA Florida Healthcare/JFK Hospital to HCA Florida Healthcare/JFK Hospital sponsorship between July 2023 and June 2027.  During this transition, starting in July 2023, all newly matched/appointed residents and fellows will be HCA employees, while previously enrolled residents will complete their training as UM employees.

The educational structure of the programs, program leadership and faculty, participating sites and rotations, and other educational experiences will not significantly change during the transition period, and HCA is committed to maintain the outstanding quality of the education and learning environment at JFK that all residents have enjoyed since inception of these programs.

UM and HCA GME leadership are engaged in regular ongoing communications, involving program and hospital leadership, as well as residents and fellows, to ensure that the transition occurs smoothly.  All relevant GME policies, processes and program budgets have been aligned to allow for the same high-quality education to all residents and fellows.

The final transition will be subject to submission of an application to and approval by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education [ACGME] which we expect to occur by 2025.

Please visit this page to see a listing and more information about all of the residency and fellowship programs at JFK.

We wish all of the candidates the best of luck with the upcoming interview and match season.

Sincerely,
