The University of Miami at Holy Cross Internal Medicine Residency is based on the 4+2 Scheduling System. What this means is that two weeks out of every six will be ambulatory based with more traditional rotations like General Wards, ICU, and electives occurring during the 4 weeks in between.
This schedule allows our residents to develop excellent patient care skills in the outpatient practice setting. These translate well into many medical specialties and sub-specialties. All this is done while preserving the traditional inpatient ward and ICU experience creating a well prepared general internist at the completion of three years.
The program emphasizes core Internal Medicine skills, but offers the flexibility for each resident to tailor his/her experience to meet individual goals. This is true whether your career interests are primary care, hospital medicine, or a medical subspecialty. We offer a mix of clinical experience, small group learning, and didactic lectures covering not only core internal medicine topics, but also focusing on quality improvement and evidence-based medicine.
