Welcome to the University of Miami Miller school of Medicine’s Pediatric Imaging Section! Our section, a division of the Department of Radiology, consists of four board certified University of Miami faculty attending radiologists who provides both clinical and educational services to the section. We typically have two to three radiology residents rotating through our service at a time.

Mission

Our mission is to provide the best clinical service related to the medical imaging of the pediatric population while minimizing the radiation exposure of children.

Services

The Pediatric Radiology section provides diagnostic imaging services utilizing radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. The following services are available at the Pediatric Imaging Center. Most appointments are available within 48-72 hours of request, and in some cases we can accommodate patients the same day.

  • Computed Tomography (CT): Our state-of-the-art 64- and 128- slice multi-detector CT scanner provides improved image quality, high resolution 2-D and 3-D reconstructions and faster imaging times, reducing the need for sedation. All CT protocols have been modified to deliver the lowest possible radiation dose to your child and provide the highest quality imaging available.
  • Fluoroscopy
  • General Radiology (X-Ray)
  • Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), including Fetal MRI: Our advanced 1.5 Tesla MRIprotocols are tailored for the evaluation of disease processes unique to children.
  • Ultrasound
  • Sedation (CT and MRI): The Pediatric Radiology Section offers sedation assisted MRIand CT exams to infants and children. This program is designed to meet the unique medical, emotional, psychosocial, and developmental needs of infants, children and adolescents in a family-centered environment.

Expertise

We specialize in the imaging of diseases of a vast array of conditions involving the pediatric population. In addition to general pediatric radiology, our radiologists have expertise in more advanced modalities, including Pediatric Neuroimaging, Pediatric MSK, and Fetal MR.
