Message from the Director
The one-year Transplant Hepatology Fellowship Program at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital is ACGME-accredited and designed to provide a strong clinical and research experience in both transplant and clinical Hepatology. We strive to prepare gastroenterologists for a career in academic hepatology with certification by the American Boards of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics in Transplant Hepatology.
Our faculty includes 10 hepatologists committed to education who focus in various clinical and research areas. A multidisciplinary approach and close collaboration with transplant surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and gastroenterologists further enriches the fellowship experience. Transplant hepatology training is offered through partnership with the Miami Transplant Institute at Jackson Memorial Hospital, which is among the busiest liver transplant programs in the nation.
Our goal is to train academic hepatologists as top clinicians in the field of transplant and non -transplant hepatology, while actively participating in education and research. In that regard, the hepatology faculty have a variety of research interests including viral hepatitis, autoimmune and cholestatic liver diseases, fatty liver, hepatocellular carcinoma and liver transplantation, among others, and our fellows have multiple opportunities to participate in research activities.
