Dr. Carpintero is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the division of rheumatology. She is a clinical investigator with a focus on systemic autoimmune diseases especially Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE). She has participated as principal investigator in multiple clinical trials and her research focus is on identifying information that may ultimately be useful finding better treatment options and to be able to improve the lives of patients with systemic autoimmune diseases in particularly with SLE. In addition to caring for patients in the clinic, she enjoys medical education and the opportunity to teach medical students, residents, and fellows; she currently serves as Associate Program Director for the rheumatology fellowship, Director for the rheumatology pathway for the Internal Medicine residency program and Coordinator/faculty mentor for the Tozman Scholar program.
