Chronic wounds affect more than 6 million people living in the United States. As the prevalence of risk factors for developing chronic wounds increases, scientists are searching for ways to alleviate the suffering of patients afflicted with these conditions.
The University of Miami is proud to be home to one of the largest and most well-established wound research clinics in the country. The wound research team, under the direction of Dr. Robert Kirsner and Dr. Marjana Tomic-Canic, is involved in several NIH and industry-sponsored projects, from bench research to randomized controlled clinical trials using advanced wound care therapy.
We are currently enrolling patients with venous leg ulcers, diabetic foot ulcers, and other chronic ulcers. Please contact us if you would like more information.
