The Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery offers a Graduate Education Specialty Training (G.E.S.T.) Fellowship Program. This program is tailored for foreign dermatologists, preferably for those who have been recently trained. This program enables the fellow to rotate through every facet of the department and is divided into one-month blocks for a total of three months. This program previously received the award of excellence in education by the American Academy of Dermatology.
The GEST Program Observership offers the following rotations:
- General Dermatology – Includes exposure to:
- Dermatologic Surgery (including Mohs)
- Pediatric Dermatology
- Cosmetic Dermatology
- Hair Pathology
- Dermatologic Surgery (including Mohs)
- Hair & Nails Disorders
- Requires confirmation/sponsorship from an existing faculty member.
Participants will also take part in departmental activities such as grand rounds, weekly lectures, and other academic events.
Every candidate who successfully completes the program will receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the Chairman of the department as well as the program director.

Please Note
- An observership with the department requires prior confirmation and sponsorship from a faculty member before applying for the program.
- Applications must be submitted at least 3 months in advance of the requested start date.
- We have a maximum of 2 observers per month. Please indicate your preferred dates so we can check availability.

- Summary of Health Insurance coverage
- TB testing from the last 6 months (from start date)
- If PPD: result must be less than 10mm and include a chest X-ray
- Or: a Negative QuantiFERON test (recommended)
- Complete immunization history with serologic proof and/or lab results
- Summary of Health Insurance coverage
All health-related documentation must be translated into the English language and certified
