Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery

The Dr. Phillip Frost Department of Dermatology and Cutaneous Surgery at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine is accepting applications for the Research Residency program.

This track trains qualified MD/PhD applicants for a successful career as physician scientists in academic Dermatology. MD applicants with significant laboratory research experience are encouraged to apply as well.

The Research Residency training program has a “1+3” structure.  The first 12 months are spent in postdoctoral research training, followed by 3 years of robust clinical training in Dermatology with integration of protected research time. Emphasis is placed on translational bench-to-bedside approaches that will equip graduates for research independence and success as physician-scientist leaders in Dermatology.

Year 2 PGY2 Dermatology Resident Continuous research activities related to project (funding/fellowship applications, publications)
Year 3 PGY3 Dermatology Resident Continuous research activities related to project (funding/fellowship applications, publications)
Year 4 PGY4 Dermatology Resident Continuous research activities related to project (funding/fellowship applications, publications) (6 months) & Research Elective (6 months)
Completion Board Eligible in Dermatology Completed Postdoctoral Training

Applications may be submitted via ERAS to the designated Research Track under the University of Miami/ Jackson Health System program (#1104080A1).

Important 2024-2025 dates:

  • Interview Invitation Release: November 4th, 2024
  • Research Track Interview Date (in person): December 11th, 2024
