UM CFAR Sylvester CCC – Argentina Consortium for Research and Training in AIDS Malignancies
This consortium focuses on the career development of Argentina basic, translational and clinical emerging scientists through mentored research in KSHV and HPV induced cancers affecting the Argentina population at the highest risk of developing HIV/AIDS. Potential areas of research related to the U54 Cancer in HIV/AIDS focus include the following:
- Epidemiology. Diagnosis and treatment of viral and non-viral cancers affecting individuals with HIV/AIDS.
- Targeted therapies for viral and non-viral cancers in the context of HIV/AIDS, including tumor immunotherapy.
- Studies comparing molecular pathogenesis mechanisms in cancers of the same histopathological classification in patients with or without HIV/AIDS.
- Viral and non-viral oncogenesis and carcinogenesis in the context of HIV/AIDS.
- Cell and animal models of viral and non-viral oncogenesis in the context of HIV/AIDS.
