The Center for AIDS Research (CFAR) at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine is the first National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded AIDS research center in Florida. The state of Florida is among the highest number of people living with a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS. In alignment with the NIH strategic plan for HIV and HIV-related research, the mission of the Miami CFAR is to advance HIV/AIDS research by providing scientific leadership and developing an infrastructure that fosters integration of basic, clinical, and behavioral/social sciences, promotes education and mentorship, and partners with the community to prevent, treat and cure HIV/AIDS, ultimately ending the HIV epidemic (EHE).
