Miami CFAR HIV and Aging in the era of ART and COVID19 Symposium - Day 2, Feb. 9, 2021

Numbers of people older than 50 years of age living with HIV (PWH) are increasing globally due to the success of combination antiretroviral therapy (cART). It is widely believed that HIV+ persons age at a faster pace than HIV uninfected, and prematurely develop non-AIDS-related comorbidities. 


Miami CFAR HIV and Aging in the era of ART and COVID19 Symposium - Day 1, Feb. 8, 2021

This symposium discussed the basic science of inflammation, metabolism, and epigenetics in aging in the context of HIV, the translational potential of senolytics in aging PWH, and the impact of COVID-19 on this population. Panelists also discussed the role of metabolic-epigenetic cross-talk in the process of aging in HIV.
