Academic Enrichment Services

Office of Medical Education

Our Mission

Grounded in the science of learning, the mission of the Office of Academic Enrichment is to facilitate the development of self-regulated, active learning (SAL) skills through deliberate practice and a growth mindset. Our academic support programs introduce medical students to key research-based learning and study strategies proven to be enhance academic and clinical performance.

Our support services are built on a preventive academic coaching (PAC) model: A culture of learning that foregrounds the development of self-regulated learning skills as core determinants of students’ mental health and wellbeing, as well as their academic and clinical performance. Our preventive academic coaching model serves to empower learners to develop sustainable study habits that position them for lifelong learning.

In an effort to build a culture of preventive academic coaching, our team works closely with the Office of Admissions, Office of Student Services, Office of Student Affairs, as well as preclinical and clinical curriculum stakeholders to ensure appropriate alignment of our services with students’ learning needs. Equally important, our office collaborates with and provides oversight for our student-led peer teaching programs.
