NextGenMD Curriculum Structure
Our students complete their medical education in three phases. We offer longitudinal courses that span the breadth of our curriculum, including our Scholarly Concentration courses, which guide you into a pathway of emphasis or a dual-degree program.
Phase 1: 14 Months
- A student-led, faculty-facilitated case-based collaborative approach to learning foundational sciences.
- Early clinical experiences including serving as patient navigators and learning emergency medical skills.
- Longitudinal Clinical Educators (LCEs) who serve as coaches and mentors teaching foundational clinical skills.
Phase 2: 12 Months
- Transition to Clerkships course to assist with the transition into clinical training.
- Four integrated clinical clerkships with robust standardized patient program to assist students in developing core clinical skills.
- Integrated foundational sciences in the clerkships and experiences with LCEs
Phase 3: 18 months
- Advanced clinical and integrated science courses including a sub-internship, integrated science selective, and critical care selective.
- Transition to Residency bootcamp.
- Personalized schedule of electives.
