Medical Education

Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (BMB) is responsible for teaching core principles of Medical Biochemistry and Genetics throughout the entire NextGenMD medical school curriculum. It aims to continuously develop molecular descriptions of physiological processes that advance medical student competencies in other preclinical courses, clinical clerkships, research, and overall practices.

The BMB “Molecular Medicine Pathway” gives medical students direct exposure to basic science research, enabling them to pursue clinical research fellowships. Successful completion of a research project under a mentor and participation in departmental seminars and extracurricular activities will lead to a Certificate in Pathway in Molecular Medicine, which will be awarded at graduation.
