Early Admission to Medical School

The Medical Scholars Program (MSP), is specifically designed to provide exceptionally capable University of Miami undergraduate students with a pathway to early matriculation or early assurance into the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine.

Students apply to the program early in their undergraduate career and are evaluated for conditional acceptance to the Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. Students must engage in their undergraduate study and meet all conditions of the program throughout their enrollment at the University of Miami, for full acceptance and timely matriculation to the Miller School of Medicine.

Eligible students at the University of Miami, are encouraged to apply to the program upon successful completion of their Sophomore year, and can select one of two tracks:

MSP: Early Matriculation

The MSP: Early Matriculation track is an accelerated matriculation pathway where eligible students in the program enter their first year of medical school following their Junior year of undergraduate study at the University of Miami. Students in this track earn their Bachelor’s degree upon successfully completing their first year of medical school.

MSP: Early Assurance

The MSP: Early Assurance track is a regular matriculation pathway where eligible students in the program enter their first year of medical school following their Senior year of undergraduate study. Students in this track earn their Bachelor’s degree upon completing their Senior year of undergraduate study at the University of Miami, prior to matriculating at the medical school.

The two tracks have distinct timelines, and students should carefully consider their plans to select the track most suited to their circumstances.
This program is not open to students outside of the University of Miami, and it is not a part of the AAMC Early Decision Program.
