M.D. Prerequisite Courses 2022-2023

The University of Miami Miller School of Medicine (UMMSM) requires students to have a conferred bachelor’s degree prior to matriculation. In order to be on track to have a bachelor’s degree conferred prior to matriculation, we recommend that you have at least 90 credit hours (or their equivalent) at the time of the time of your application.

(Note: This requirement does not apply to applicants accepted to Miller via the Medical Scholars Program  our early matriculation pathway for selected University of Miami undergraduate students.)

Accepted coursework must be taken at a fully accredited U.S., U.S. territorial, or Canadian postsecondary institution. All science coursework must be completed at a 4-year (bachelor’s degree-granting) institution as described above.

We accept Advanced Placement (AP) credits to satisfy English/literature, behavioral science, biology, physics, and inorganic chemistry requirements if these credits are verified by the American Medical School Application Service® (AMCAS) and appear on your college transcript.

Please note, we will only accept online courses that were completed between the Summer term of 2020-Fall term 2021. College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) credits and credits earned in foreign institutions are also unacceptable. The one exception is study-abroad courses completed at a qualified institution.
