The Fellowship in Addiction Psychiatry is a 12-month program as defined by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology for Certification in Addiction Psychiatry. By the start of the fellowship the candidate must have graduated from a general psychiatry program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education and be eligible for board certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
Goals and Objectives
Fellows will participate in supervised clinical rotations focused on the treatment of substance use disorders at various levels of care, including acute inpatient psychiatry with medical detoxification, residential rehabilitation, acute medical and surgical units with psychiatric consultation, and ambulatory care with a focus on medication-assisted treatment. Fellows will participate in addiction psychiatry-focused didactics, including weekly individual supervision sessions, formal lectures by faculty, rotation-specific didactics, grand rounds, journal club, ethics discussions, psychotherapy seminars, and case presentations. Fellows will also have the opportunity to participate in clinical research and other academic activities, including teaching and quality improvement projects.

Applications for Addiction Psychiatry fellowship positions for 2025-2026 are accepted only through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS).

The Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is an accredited two-year program that offers trainees the opportunity to participate in assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with a wide range of psychiatric disorders. The diverse ethnic population and multicultural atmosphere makes Miami an exciting and vibrant community, which offers unique collegial and clinical experiences for fellows and residents. The learning experience in the Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Training Program is divided into three essential elements: (1) Didactic Activities, (2) Clinical Experience, and (3) Research Experience under the overall leadership of Barbara Coffey, M.D., Professor of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Our Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program consists of 10 fellows - 5 per year."
Eligibility
Medical Licensing Examination:
All applicants must have successfully completed Steps 1, 2 (Clinical Knowledge and Clinical Skills) and 3 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination prior to acceptance into the program. (Or COMLEX equivalent)
Postgraduate Training:
Applicants must have successfully completed three-years of adult psychiatry at an ACGME-accredited residency program. We participate in the National Resident Matching Program. All of our positions are filled through the NRMP.

Fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry

Jackson Memorial Hospital is a large, university-affiliated county hospital and is the perfect sponsor for your consultation-liaison psychiatry training. Fellows gain outstanding experience in the psychiatric management of a variety of patient populations, through a culturally informed, evidenced-based and patient-centered care approach, along with effective liaison competencies to collaborate with primary teams and other healthcare providers.
Each fellow sees an average of fifteen new cases and up to ten follow-up encounters per week. Fellows are offered didactic, clinical, and research supervision by the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry faculty for an average of four hours per week. In addition, an average of ten hours per week are devoted to didactic activities through attending rounds, case vignette discussions, board preparation review, and conferences. Each fellow has the opportunity to participate in the teaching of residents and medical students. Fellows have access to update online journals and the opportunity to attend annual psychiatry meetings. An academic research project is encouraged to be completed by each fellow under the supervision of faculty members.

By means individual supervision, small group seminars, didactic lectures, and case conferences related to clinical material and basic sciences, we provide a comprehensive training program for geriatric psychiatry. We have specifically assigned the residents to clinical rotations with strong emphasis on the issues that relate to older adults and assign them to work in multidisciplinary teams with expertise in geriatrics. Additionally, we support membership in the American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry. This includes receiving the Journal of the Association, the newsletter, with periodic updates on geriatric-specific bills that are coming before Congress. Trainees have the unique experience to work within the UM Center for Cognitive Neuroscience and Aging (CNSA).
