One of the pillars of CAPiTTAL is the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL). The CAPiTTAL Lab is the home for the SoTL within the Department of Physical Therapy. The lab functions to increase institutional, national, and international visibility through publications, presentations, collaborations, and leadership related to the SoTL Research within the lab aligns with hubs as pictured below. The CAPiTTAL Lab also holds journal clubs, writing workshops, and faculty development opportunities throughout the year. For more information about any of these topics, including a list of recent faculty publications, please click the related link below.

CAPiTTAL Journal Clubs
Educators, researchers, and students meet regularly to critically review and discuss recent articles from peer-reviewed education journals, aiming to deepen their understanding of educational theories, practices, and empirical findings while fostering scholarly dialogue and collaboration. These clubs provide a platform for participants to engage in evidence-based discussions and stay updated on the latest developments in the field of physical therapy or health professions education. Journal Clubs are held from 12-1 PM Eastern time in even numbered months (Feb/Apr/Jun/Aug/Oct/Dec) and are open to anyone interested. To attend a journal club remotely (via Zoom), please email vxg357@med.miami.edu.

CAPiTTAL Writing Workshops
Writing workshops are venues for faculty and students to learn more about academic writing, specifically related to education research. Additionally, faculty can bring current projects to share and brainstorm with other faculty. Workshops are held 12-1 PM Eastern time in odd numbered months (Jan/Mar/May/Jul/Sep/Nov) and are open to all faculty, PhD, and DPT students.
