English Composition/Writing intensive: (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
This course should primarily deal with written communication and be graded on the quality of the writing rather than on content. English literature or scientific writing courses may be substituted. Courses cannot be substituted simply because they require papers.
Introduction to Statistics: (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
May accept statistics courses taught in biostatistics, education or psychology departments. Please send course description/outline to be reviewed. May accept a research methods class if course description indicates heavy content in statistics.
Psychology: (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
General Biology: (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
Courses should be for science majors. May substitute general zoology for science majors. A lab is not required.
General Chemistry I & II: (min 8 credit or 12 quarter hours)
Must include lab. May accept courses in general chemistry, inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry or physical chemistry. Classes need not be sequential but one must be a higher level than the other. Example: General Chemistry I and Organic Chemistry II are acceptable but General Chemistry I & Organic Chemistry I are not.
General Physics I & II: (min 8 credit or 12 quarter hours)
Must include lab. Topics covered should include mechanics, electricity, and optics. Classes need not be sequential but one must be a higher level than the other. Example: General Physics I & General Physics II
Human Anatomy : (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
Strongly recommend that the course be in human rather than vertebrate anatomy. Substitution of comparative anatomy may be made.
Human Physiology: (min 3 credit or 5 quarter hours)
May substitute mammalian physiology but not exercise physiology.
Please Note: It is strongly recommended that Anatomy and Physiology courses be taken within the last 6 years.
or Combined Anatomy and Physiology I & II: (min 6 credit or 9 quarter hours)
Strongly recommend that combined course deal with human rather than mammalian anatomy and physiology. If only one semester of a combined course is taken a second course both in anatomy and physiology will be mandatory to fulfill the requirement. Classes need not be sequential but one must be a higher level than the other. Example: Anatomy & Physiology I and Anatomy & Physiology II.
Students must average a GPA of 3.0 or above on these courses. Anatomy and Physiology courses must be a “B” or above.
Since we require 8 credit hours of both chemistry and physics, students who take one semester of either course and then switch to a quarter system will need 6 quarter hours to fulfill the requirement.
Students who take one semester of a combined anatomy/physiology course and then switch to a quarter system, will need to take a total of 5 quarter hours of anatomy and physiology to fulfill the requirement.
