The University of Miami School of Medicine, Department of Physical Therapy, is at the forefront of high-performance research in the sports health and human performance sciences. We support the University of Miami’s four pillars through our deliverables in the fields of athletics, education, medicine, and research. Our research lines have a focus on identifying sport performance biomarkers, internal physiological loads, external biomechanical loads, and in optimizing outcomes in the rehabilitative sciences. Our innovative work includes working with mobile health technologies, traditional instruments, and wearable sensors. The creation and development of partnerships within the academy, colleagues and collaborators at other institutions, and in the private sector, catalyze our prescient view of the University of Miami’s position as a regional and global leader in the sports health and human performance sciences. Physical therapists work in an interdisciplinary team which includes athletic trainers, dietitians, psychologists, sports scientists, and strength & conditioning coaches.
