Biography: Maya Bloomberg is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in Classical Hematology at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and Jackson Memorial Hospital. Since 2014, she has specialized in sickle cell disease and congenital bleeding disorders, bringing to light the health and racial disparities existing in modern medicine. Her dedication to health equity inspired the creation of @theHemeNP, a social media platform offering accessible, evidence-based information to empower patients and address disparities in healthcare.

Maya is a recognized speaker at national and international conferences in her areas of expertise. She serves on the board of the Sickle Cell Disease Association of America’s Miami-Dade chapter and co-hosts the “Let’s Talk About Sickle Cell” podcast. Furthering her mission, Maya founded the HEM (Health Equity Matters) Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering meaningful change and a more equitable future for individuals affected by sickle cell disease and other rare hematologic conditions.

Biography: Anastasia Marie Santiago, DNP is the Director of Advanced Practice Providers for the Division of Hematology and a Malignant Hematology Nurse Practitioner at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, University of Miami Health System. She completed both her Masters as a Family Nurse Practitioner and her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at the University of Miami. Dr. Santiago then completed a Hematology Oncology Nurse Practitioner Fellowship at Sylvester. She specializes in myelodysplastic syndrome and acute/chronic leukemias, and manages a Leukemia Evaluation Clinic independently, where she screens and diagnoses new patients with potential myeloid malignancies. Dr. Santiago serves as a sub investigator to multiple myelodysplastic syndrome and leukemia based clinical trials. She is also an Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the American Society of Hematology.
