Alberto Vega, M.D.
Biography: Dr. Alberto R. Vega is a board-certified family medicine physician with over a decade of experience in primary care. He earned his medical degree from the Superior Institute of Medical Sciences in Havana, Cuba, and went on to complete his family medicine residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Assistant Chief Resident.
In 2013, Dr. Vega was honored with the Resident Teacher Award from the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine in recognition of his outstanding commitment to education and clinical excellence. He also received the Women’s Health and Obstetrics Award from the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, highlighting his dedication to comprehensive, patient-centered care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Vega has served diverse patient populations across South Florida, including roles with Broward Health Physician Group and Leon Medical Centers in both Broward and Miami-Dade counties. In 2024, he rejoined the Family Medicine Department, proudly returning to the community he calls home.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Vega is committed to providing culturally competent care to South Florida’s richly diverse population. He believes strongly in patient education and works closely with individuals and families to help them take an active role in their health and well-being.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Vega enjoys biking on weekends and values staying active as part of a balanced lifestyle.
