The Urologic Oncology Fellowship at the University of Miami’s Desai Sethi Urology Institute offers rigorous, multidisciplinary training in the diagnosis and management of genitourinary cancers.
Accredited by the Society of Urologic Oncology (SUO), the program provides in-depth experience in both clinical and research settings with access to world-class faculty and resources across the University of Miami Health System and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.
This two-year fellowship is designed to prepare future academic leaders and highly skilled surgical oncologists through personalized mentorship and comprehensive exposure to advanced oncologic care.
Program Leadership
Clinical Training
Fellows will participate in the full spectrum of urologic cancer care, including:
- Prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular and penile cancer management
- Robotic (multi and single port) and open surgical procedures
- Multidisciplinary tumor boards and precision medicine clinics
- Hands-on experience in advanced diagnostics and surgical planning
- Outpatient and inpatient care at a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated cancer center
Research Component
The program includes dedicated research time with access to clinical trials, translational research projects, and mentorship in:
- Cancer genomics and molecular biology
- Immunotherapy and targeted therapies
- Health disparities in urologic cancer care
- Clinical outcomes and health services research
- Surgical innovation
- Artificial Intelligence and augmented reality
Fellows are expected to present at major national meetings and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
