The Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the University of Miami offers specialized training in the diagnosis, treatment, and surgical management of urologic conditions in infants, children, and adolescents. 

Based at Jackson Memorial Hospital, our program provides fellows with high-volume clinical exposure and the opportunity to train alongside renowned experts in pediatric surgical care.

Our fellowship is designed to prepare urologists for careers in academic medicine or high-level clinical practice by providing balanced experience in complex surgical cases, longitudinal outpatient care, and meaningful research.

Program Leadership

Miguel Castellan, M.D.

Dr. Miguel Castellan is a pediatric urologist and Program Director of the Pediatric Urology Fellowship at the University of Miami. He specializes in minimally invasive and reconstructive pediatric urology and is known for his commitment to compassionate, child-centered care. Actively involved in research and education on a national and international level, Dr. Castellan is dedicated to clinical excellence and mentoring the next generation of pediatric urology leaders.

Daniel Nassau, M.D.

Dr. Daniel Nassau is a board-certified pediatric urologist specializing in hypospadias, neurogenic bladder, vesicoureteral reflux, and adolescent fertility preservation. He completed his urology residency at Lenox Hill Hospital and fellowship training at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Dr. Nassau delivers compassionate, research-informed care at leading institutions across South Florida, including Nicklaus Children’s, Jackson Health, and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital.

Training Overview

Fellows in the Pediatric Urology Program will:

  • Manage a broad range of pediatric urologic conditions, including congenital anomalies, hydronephrosis, vesicoureteral reflux, and neurogenic bladder
  • Perform open, laparoscopic, and robotic-assisted surgeries
  • Participate in multidisciplinary clinics for complex care coordination
  • Contribute to clinical research, with opportunities to publish and present

Eligibility & Application

Applicants must have completed a urology residency program accredited by ACGME or a urology residency in another country.
