Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Thomas Wozny, MD, earned a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience from the University of Pittsburgh Honors College, graduating summa cum laude. During his undergraduate studies, he developed a strong interest in the neurosciences and was awarded three separate undergraduate research fellowships. He went on to receive his medical degree through the Physician Scientist Training Program at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, where he was awarded the Theodore Kurze Prize for excellence in neurosurgery and clinical neurosciences.
Dr. Wozny completed the first year of his neurosurgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed the remainder of his neurosurgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco. His clinical interest in minimally invasive spine surgery prompted him to complete an international endoscopic spine fellowship at the Harrison Spinartus Hospital in Seoul, South Korea.
Dr. Wozny has a longstanding research interest in the neurosurgical applications of neurophysiology and radiologic image analysis, with multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field. His ongoing research pursuits include the use of machine learning in radiomics to improve prognostication models in neurosurgery. Outside of his professional life, he enjoys biking, sailing, and spending time in nature.
