Originally from New Mexico, Soliman spent his childhood in Cairo, Egypt before earning his bachelor's degree in biology from New Mexico State University. He then attended the University of Colorado School of Medicine and completed his neurosurgery training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, including an enfolded neuroendovascular fellowship. He spent a year at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School completing fellowship training in open and endovascular pediatric cerebrovascular disease. His clinical interests include microsurgery, endovascular interventions, pediatric cerebrovascular pathology, and CSF dynamics. Beyond his clinical pursuits, Soliman is passionate about resident education, exercise, DIY projects, and travel.

Started in 7/1/2023 and will graduate in 6/2025

Born in Venezuela, completed Medical School in Venezuela at Universidad de Carabobo. Moved to USA to Joined the Neurosurgery dept spinal cord stem cell research team at The Louis Pope Life Center for 2 years. Then joined the Neurology dept to continue his path with endovascular stem cell research for stroke. He is a recipient of multiple awards at national and international conferences for his work in the endovascular stem cell research field with also multiple publications in different journals. He completed his Neurology residency at the University of Miami. Underwent Stroke fellowship at the prestigious center The Mount Sinai Hospital New York where later joined the stroke team as stroke attending.

Daniel Aaronson

Daniel Aaronson, M.D., originally from Seattle, earned his undergraduate degree in Mathematics and Chemistry from Queens College, City University of New York, graduating with honors. He then attended Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine, where he served as class president. Dr. Aaronson completed his neurosurgical residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, with a focus on both intrinsic brain and spine tumors, as well as skull base tumors. His clinical focus includes neurosurgical oncology and advanced surgical imaging techniques such as connectomics and intraoperative imaging. Dr. Aaronson is also involved in integrating advanced machine learning radio-pathomic maps into clinical practice.
He has a keen interest in the application of AI in healthcare, particularly within neurosurgical oncology and residency training. Throughout his career, Dr. Aaronson has contributed to the field through numerous publications and lectures at national and international conferences. Outside of his professional life, he is passionate about raising his young family, traveling, and landscape photography.

Zachary C. Gersey, MD MS, joined the University of Miami Department of Neurological Surgery Neuro-Oncology Fellowship program in July of 2024. Having graduated cum laude from University of Florida with a degree in biology, he completed his medical education at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed his neurosurgery residency training and completed the Endoscopic and Open Skull Base Fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh in 2024. Dr. Gersey was born in Rochester, N.Y., but moved to Merritt Island, Fla., while in high school.

Dr. Cohen-Cohen is a resident at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Born and raised in Mexico, he obtained his medical degree from Anahuac University and completed his initial neurosurgery residency at the National Institute of Neurology and Neurosurgery in Mexico City. Driven by a passion for skull base surgery, he pursued a research fellowship in Skull Base Anatomy at the University of Pittsburgh, followed by a clinical fellowship in Skull Base Oncology at the Mayo Clinic. Currently, he is completing his residency to achieve board certification as a neurosurgeon in the United States.

Ashraf Dower, M.D.

Spine Fellow
Started 07/2024 and will graduate in 06/2025

Ashraf Dower is from Sydney, Australia. He completed his medical degree at the University of New South Wales in 2013, along with a Bachelor of Medical Science (Honours). He underwent neurosurgery training at Liverpool Hospital (Sydney), Nepean Hospital (Sydney), Westmead Childrens and Adults Hospital (Sydney), Waikato Hospital (New Zealand) and St Vincent’s Hospital (Sydney). He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) in Neurosurgery in February 2024.

His clinical interests include minimally invasive spine surgery, spinal metastases and device development. He will be completing a spine fellowship under Dr Michael Wang and aims to return to Sydney, Australia to practice as a spinal surgeon.

Brian Park, M.D.

Dr. Park is originally from Southern California and graduated college from the University of California, San Diego. He then obtained his MD from the University of Iowa, Carver College of Medicine. He stayed in Iowa to complete his neurosurgical residency training at the University of Iowa. Brian has particular interests in spinal deformity along with minimally invasive and endoscopic spinal surgical techniques. In order to gain further subspecialized training, he has completed a complex spine fellowship at the University of Virginia and is now completing a second complex spine fellowship at the University of Miami.

Dr. Guilherme S. Piedade comes from Curitiba, Brazil, and graduated from the Federal University of Paraná. He underwent neurosurgical training in Germany, attending the residency program and earning a PhD from the University of Düsseldorf. Dr. Piedade's interest lies in epilepsy surgery, pediatric Neurosurgery, and neuromodulation, with a dedicated research focus on expanding its indications and improving affordability. After completing a fellowship in pediatric Neurosurgery at the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, he currently specializes in functional Neurosurgery.

Dr. Felipe Monteiro was born in Teresina City, Brazil. He completed his medical education at the Universidade Federal do Piauí (2004-09) and his neurosurgery residency at the Instituto de Neurologia de Curitiba (2010-14). With 9 years of experience, Dr. Felipe has worked extensively in a Level I trauma center, specializing in traumatic brain injury, and in private practice, focusing on spinal surgery and pain management.

Marcus Alexander, M.D., Ph.D.

Marcus Alexander worked as a scientist at Yale while completing his MD at the Frank Netter School of Medicine. He received his PhD from Harvard and postdoctoral training at Stanford, where he was HHMI fellow. His projects included computational genomics of brain tumors at the NIH and Memorial Sloan Kettering, as well as neurophysiology of social cognition in DBS at Brown University. His work has been published in Science, PNAS and Nature Human Behavior.

Andrew was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and began his interest in the nervous system by conducting neuroanatomy pain research at UCSF throughout high school. He received his Summa Cum Laude bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Neuroscience, and Behavioral Biology from Emory University while completing a competitive NIH neuromuscular research fellowship at Bethesda/Cold Spring Harbor. Subsequently, Andrew was awarded the opportunity to conduct a neurobiology pain research fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital and complete a graduate professional certification in nanotechnology from Harvard University as a visiting scholar. He then obtained his master’s degree in Clinical Research with Specialization in Implementation Science and Advanced Biostatistics from UCSF and recently finished his medical degree at UCLA as a Drew Bloomberg Scholar. During this time, he made over 100 academic contributions and was awarded the prestigious AANS’s MISSION Fellowship with induction into AANS’s Young Neurosurgeons Committee. Outside the hospital, he enjoys the NBA/NFL, horticulture and arranging floral bouquets, and spending time with his fiancée, Mandy.
