Mailenys Ortega is an advanced practice registered nurse that specializes in gastroenterology and inflammatory bowel disease. She initially completed her nursing degree as a registered nurse in 2009 from Keiser University. She worked as a registered nurse at the University of Miami Crohn’s and Colitis Center back office for about 4 years in 2013. She then worked as a registered nurse in primary care while completing her advanced degree. She completed the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Chamberlain University. Upon graduation and completion of her certification she joined our group.

Mailenys has over 14 years of experience in healthcare and about 6 years are in inflammatory bowel disease. She gives back to her community as an APP advisor of the student run Mitchell Wolfson Sr Department of Community Services (DOCS) at UM. The GHAPP Association has elected Mailenys as faulty member of the evidence-based practice research committee.
