• Birds are challenging for hematology but acquiring expertise in reptile, fish, and elasmobranch species is even more of an undertaking! We feel that it is only once you see all the diversity in the white blood cells of these special species that then you are prepared for the unexpected in terms of evaluating novel species and the wealth of abnormal cell morphology that can be discovered.

• Biochemistry testing is always challenged by sample volume limitations. We have taken great care in optimizing our analyzers for small volumes that may be submitted from small patients as well as very sick patients. Our protocols do not include large dilutions of samples that may lead to inaccurate results.

• Protein electrophoresis is what we are known for! Not only do we have method specific reference intervals but we are proud to have produced an extensive database of species specific reference intervals most of which you will rarely find at other laboratories.

• Our launch of the Acute Phase Protein Laboratory, the only such lab in the U.S., is a natural progression of our interest in protein electrophoresis. We are actively validating APP reagents for use in all wildlife species. Want to collaborate?
