Accepted applicants who apply for institutional, need-based grants are required to submit a CSS Profile. Individuals who will be 30 years of age or younger as of December 31st, 2027, will be required to provide parental information.

Accepted applicants who qualified for an AMCAS fee-waiver may request a waiver for the cost of the CSS Profile by emailing medfinaid@miami.edu.

Medical students are considered independent for purposes of completing the FAFSA and are not required to provide parental information.  The FAFSA is utilized to determine your eligibility for federal student loan programs.

Accepted applicants who apply for institutional, need-based grants are required to submit a CSS Profile. Individuals who will be 30 years of age or younger as of December 31, 2026, will be required to provide parental information. Policies governing institutional financial assistance are subject to change at any time and future applicants are encouraged to review current policies at the time of their acceptance.

Merit scholarships are awarded based on factors that do not require assessment of need or parental information.

Students can apply for loans at any point within the academic year.  When requesting loans students should allow for processing time of up to 10 business days.

Your credit history can affect your eligibility for Graduate Plus loans and private educational loans.

Information about credit requirements for Grad PLUS loans is available at https://studentaid.gov/sites/default/files/plus-adverse-credit.pdf.

Underwriting requirements for private educational loans will vary be lender.

The Miller School of Medicine manages a robust debt management program for students which includes annual webinars and presentations as well as consultations with experts on loan repayment strategies for physicians. Information about our program is available here.
