Message from the Director

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis are more common than you think. All of us have friends, or family, or colleagues affected by these diseases. We felt that the community of South Florida deserved a world-class Crohn's and Colitis Center to meet the needs of people and their families affected by inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD). In April of 2013, we opened our doors to the community but that is only one dimension of all of the work that we are doing at the University of Miami to make the lives of people affected by inflammatory bowel disease better.

Our center offers multidisciplinary care for patients with inflammatory bowel disease. From the moment you walk in the door, everyone from the nurses, to our administrative staff, to our dieticians and research coordinators are knowledgeable about inflammatory bowel disease and passionate about their desire to make the experience a unique one.

In addition to taking care of patients and providing a venue to receive medications for inflammatory bowel disease, we have doctors and nurses, plus a full-time dietician and a psychotherapist, to assist in navigating the complexity of living with IBD. We are involved in numerous innovative studies that emanate from the creativity of the researchers working to finding cures for IBD.
